The Invaluable Lesson Of Three Dolls

In old times, a king was very fond of buying new toys.  From time to time, traders used to come to his court to sell new toys.  One day, a person came to the court and said, “O King, you have never seen such toys as I am going to show you today.”

Hearing this, the king became very curious.  He said, “Show me your toys.”  The trader took out three dolls from his bag.  He said, “These three look alike, but the price of the first doll is one lakh coins, the price of the second is one thousand coins and the price of the third is one coin.”

Seeing such a difference in the price of the three identical dolls, the king picked up all the dolls and looked at them. All the three dolls were identical.  Even all the courtiers could not understand the difference between the three dolls.  Then the king asked his wise minister to please tell him the difference between these dolls.

The minister looked at all the three dolls very carefully and asked a servant to bring some straws. The minister put a straw in the ear of the first doll and it went straight into the stomach. After some time, its lips started moving and closed. When he put a straw in the ear of the second doll, the straw came out from the other ear. When he put a straw in the ear of the third doll, its mouth opened and started moving vigorously.

The minister told the king and the courtiers that these dolls are teaching us a great lesson. The first doll is like those people who listen to others and understand, find out the truth and only then speak. That is why its price is the highest.

The second doll is telling that some people listen to something with one ear and let it out from the other ear. Such people do not care about anyone. They remain busy in their own fun.

The third doll is like those people who start shouting loudly and telling everyone about anything without knowing its truth. These people cannot keep a secret. One should be cautious of such people. That is why its value is just one coin.
