It is a story of old times. In a Gurukul, a disciple was very sad. His Guru used to see him everyday, but thought that his mind will be fine in a few days. Even after many days, the disciple remained sad in the ashram. One day the Guru said to him that you come to me this evening, I have to talk to you about something.
In the evening, after completing the studies, the disciple reached the Guru and the Guru asked him why he remains so sad?
The disciple said, 'Guruji, in the past, many problems had come together in my family. Remembering old things, my whole family has started feeling very sad. Remembering them, I remain sad here. I am not even able to concentrate on my studies.
The Guru said, 'Will you drink lemon juice? You will feel better with that.'
The disciple agreed for the lemon juice. The Guru made lemon juice and deliberately added more salt to it.
As soon as the disciple drank a little juice, his mouth turned sour due to excess salt. He said to the Guru, 'Guruji, there is too much salt in it.
The Guru said, 'Well, maybe more salt has been added by mistake.'
The disciple said, 'Guruji, there is no need to throw it away, if we add some sugar to it, the saltiness of the lemon juice will reduce due to the sweetness and we will be able to drink it.
The Guru said, 'That is absolutely correct. Similarly, when bad times come in our life, we should also forget the things that cause pain and focus on the good experiences of life. By doing this, our thinking remains positive even in bad times. If we keep on dwelling on the painful things of the past, then the sorrows of life will never end. That is why we should focus only on good things.
