According to the story, in ancient times, a saint used to preach to his disciples and other people every day. Most of the people of the village respected the saint a lot. But, there were some who did not like the saint.
One day, a person who was jealous of the saint reached his ashram and started insulting the saint in front of everyone. But, the saint did not say anything in return. When that person got tired of talking, he left. The people of the village were very sad to see this. The saint started his sermon again.
When that person reached his home, he realized his mistake. He reached the saint's ashram the next day and started apologizing to him. The saint told him to do one thing, there are many feathers of birds scattered in the ashram. Collect them and bring them here. That person immediately started this work. After some time, he came back with the feathers.
The saint told him to now keep these feathers in the middle of his city. The person obeyed the saint and reached the middle of the city and kept all the feathers and reached the saint. The saint again told him to do one more last thing. Bring back all those feathers.
When the person reached the middle of the city, all the feathers kept there had flown away and spread here and there. It was very difficult for him to collect all the feathers. He returned to the saint empty handed and told the whole thing.
The saint told him that brother, in the same way, when we are angry, whatever we say hurts others. When our mind is calm, then we realize our mistake. But, then we cannot do anything. Just as it is not possible to collect all the feathers. The words that come out of the mouth cannot be taken back.
