There was an old lady in the village, who had been living alone for the past many years. Her sons had settled in the city and now hardly anyone remembered her. In this loneliness, there was only one companion - "Moti", an old, faithful dog.
Moti would go to the temple with Amma every morning, massage her feet, and sit quietly near her. Amma would give him food, talk to him, as if he were a human being. Time passed, and so did the age of both.
One cold morning, Amma fell very ill. She was taken to the hospital, but Moti was not allowed to go there. He sat outside the hospital the whole day, without eating or drinking, just waiting.
On the third day, Amma closed her eyes. The sons came, performed the rituals, but no one even looked at Moti. When Amma's last journey started, Moti kept running behind her. He reached the cremation ground, and kept crying sitting near the pyre.
After Amma left, Moti kept sitting at the same place. The villagers tried to give him food, but he would not eat anything. Finally, one evening, Moti also breathed his last while lying near the funeral pyre.
For the first time, the villagers bid farewell to an animal like humans. A photo of both of them now hangs in the village temple - where it is written, "Where there is loyalty, there is no difference between humans and animals."
Moral of the Story : - The story highlights the importance of loyalty and companionship in our lives. It emphasises the unconditional bond between humans and animals and the depth of love that exists in these relationships. It teaches us to appreciate and cherish loyalty and friendship that we find in unexpected places.
