It was the rainy season. A bullock cart was going on a rough road. This bullock cart belonged to Shyamu. He was in a great hurry. It was raining lightly. Shyamu wanted to reach home before the rain became heavy. There were sacks of grains in the bullock cart. The load was heavy so the bullocks were not able to run very fast. Suddenly the bullock cart tilted to one side and stopped. Oh God, what new trouble has come now! Shyamu thought in his mind.
He got down and looked. One wheel of the cart had sunk into the wet mud. There was a pit on the road, which had become bigger due to the rain. The soil around had become soft and like mud and the wheel got stuck in it. Shyamu pulled the bullocks and pulled with all his might. The bullocks also tried their best but the cart could not come out.
Shyamu got very angry. He started beating the bullocks. He was feeling very bad that two such big bulls were not able to pull the cart out. Defeated, he sat down on the ground. He said to God, O God! Now please do some miracle so that the cart comes out.
Just then he heard a voice, Shyamu! What are you doing? Stop beating the bulls and use your brain. Reduce the load on the cart. Then bring some stones and fill this pit. Then pull the bulls. Look at their condition. How tired they are!
Shyamu looked around. There was no one around. Shyamu did exactly what he had heard. The pit was filled a little with stones and the cart became lighter after unloading some sacks.
Shyamu pulled the bulls while caressing them - with force and with a jerk the bullock cart came out. The same voice was heard again, see Shyamu, this miracle has not been done by God, but by you yourself.
Moral of the story :- God also helps those who help themselves.
